"GROW FOOD, FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE"

As stated by Freetown Farm (the Community Ecology Institute)

Food is responsible for approximately one quarter of the world's greenhouse gases. To slow the warming of our atmosphere, we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and store more carbon.  Sustainable agriculture and gardening have great potential to do both. Cover crops and no-till gardening keep the soil healthy and keep carbon in the ground. Perennial (longer living) plants store more carbon with their deep, lasting roots and feed the soil microorganisms that also store carbon.
